so I would ask if you are treating a sex addict and they happen to like to sleep with multiple people or sex workers you would listen to the patient and give them tools like safe sex education and as long as it was consintual that is what sex positive therapy is?

Being sex positive therapist, in my opinion, means that I view sex as something that can be healthy and positive. It also means that a person’s interests or behaviors are not judged. To borrow a quote from Tami Rose: “I may not enjoy what you do, but as long as it is going on between consenting adults and is not damaging or endangering anyone… rock on,” However, when a person is seeking treatment for some type of problematic sexual behavior, being sex positive means meeting the client where they are and not shaming or judging them, but walking with them on their journey to mental and sexual health.
